Ever wonder how well you’d survive in a zombie apocalypse? The folks over at CableTV.com have done their research and created a national report revealing each state’s survivability rate in a The Walking Dead world. The report was created to celebrate the ninth season of the popular show which started airing last week.

Doomsday, USA! How does your state rate?

As you can see from the above infographic, if you live in California, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Indiana, Washington, Texas, Georgia, or Missouri, you should have a decent chance of surviving.

Call New Jersey, Delaware, Alaska, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine, West Virgina, Massachusetts, Vermont, Hawaii, or Nevada home? You might want to think about moving to a different state to

Some of the key highlights of their report include:

  • Surprisingly, the most likely (California) and least likely (Nevada) states to survive are neighbors.
  • The most survivable area of the US is the Midwest, thanks primarily to its widespread food production.
  • On the other hand, New England is Zone 4 across the board. (Our suggestion if you live there? Hop on I-95 and make your way down to North Carolina, the nearest Zone 1.)
  • Additional report features include statistics on Twinkie bakeries, Maruchan Ramen supply, and crossbow regulations.

Humanity can survive on Twinkies, right?

The report was created by surveying resources provided by the USDA, ATF, and SEIA, coupled with the average annual temperature for each US state in order to profile each state’s level of doomsday preparedness. Results were assigned a ranking value and weighed equally for the final ranking of each state.
