This latest rumor indicates that the new iPhones may have different screen sizes for the Pro models while the 6.1-inch model will retain its current size.
The iPhone X was the first iPhone to sport an OLED display. This year, Apple released three models while the two flagships — the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max — featured an OLED display. In 2020, Apple is rumored to be looking to have all three iPhone variants use an OLED display.
Supposedly, the iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max (or whatever it’s going to be called) will have their OLED displays made by Samsung while the standard iPhone 12 will have a display made by Samsung and LG. Samsung is rumored to be the supplier for the Pro series iPhones that could be coming in a 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch display with on-cell touch flexible OLED panels. What this means is that the display has the touch function built-in instead of having a touch film attached to the screen. This will also mean the display will be thinner and could reduce production costs for Apple.
As for the base model 6.1-inch iPhone 12, it will not have the on-cell touch display but the touch film method. Currently, LG is supplying the OLED panels for the iPhone 11 Pro Max, so if the company keeps up the production they could gain more orders from Apple.
